You know, for kids...

Recently Psynister posted a new challenge, and man-oh-man, this one is tough:
"Taking the Ironman Challenge to a Whole New Level"

For kids...

Now, something about a charity for children and character deaths seemed incongruent to me, but I'm being weird. But, not being able to shake the feeling, I decided I will take this challenge, but alter it slighty. For every level without a death, I will donate $5, but decided to set a minimum of $50, so it'll be a win for all. I'll see what happens, whether it's more generous to die or not die, that will be the question.

I may even at some point set up my own challenge for players, but for now, I'll go with this framework and see how it goes. Easier than hula-hooping, right?

Bootstraps.

Dangit! Why didn't I read the rules again?

I was trying to do Psynister's WoW Ironman Challenge on Escarlata, and just read the guidelines again. I realize I already failed because I spent my talent points. Oh, and crud! Started skinning, too. (I cannot leave behind dead animals and monsters...). And here I was, feeling quite clever because I have made it to level fourteen relatively pain-free. Well, no wonder. Our scarlet beauty was already juicing up. Roid-rage is not attractive on an undead girl. Ever watch them dance? They are perpetually at a Grateful Dead* concert, getting their groove on with a spectral Jerry Garcia (rest in peace, Jerry).

I imagine that's Escarlata in her flesh-on-bones days.

And while checking on the progress of Imraith, her Ironsally made it to 85 in whites/greys, and followed the rules...unlike cheater-cheater-Tirisfal-pumpkin eater Escarlata.

Well, shucks. In for a penny, in for a pound, I guess. Might as well just put her green wand in her pocket, and keep on truckin'.

Theme song: Truckin'/Grateful Dead
*I was never a huge GD fan; however, I have a very good friend who was/is. I never could see "it" -- whatever "it" was she saw. I am sure a dose of hallucinogens would have helped.

Say, are you going to the Darkmoon Faire?

The chicken looks great.

The few occassions I stepped into the Darkmoon Faire, I felt disoriented and a little gritty, like I needed to take a shower. With 4.3 on its way, the sense I get is that there is new and more imaginative content overall, that Blizzard is allowing WoW players more options and creative input. In the relatively short time I've been playing, I haven't seen as much excitement from my friends over the transhoopdejoo and other additions.

PsynisterBible of Dreams and Manalicious have put forth their intelligent, charming, and creative thoughts. The ideas are sweet and fun. As I commented (although my comments haven't been showing up --I promise you ladies and gentleman I may be cheesy, but I am not spam!), there is a darker side to carnivals: hope my little Zeptepi doesn't run off with a carnie. It could be all Katherine Dunn Geek Love-ish, and really freak us all out.

Escape artist.

There is a monster in the dishwasher. There must be. It is ferocious, and will not go away. The only thing that stuns it is a long rinse cycle and strong detergent. But, once the plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery are clean, if I open the door, it will crawl out, not biting or causing blood loss, but bruising and annoyance, a lot of damage over time. The dishwasher monster makes a high-pitched whining sound like a mosquito in mating season. It spawns new dirty dishes in the sink, and I am convinced it is in cahoots with the washing machine. So, while I plan my next counter-attack with this soul-sucking demon, I perused Psynister's blog roll, and came across this gem:  Planet of the Hats, specifically this post:  http://wowhats.wordpress.com/2011/05/06/im-not-here/

Now to go wrangle some to-go mugs.  Finding lids to mugs weakens it, as does putting the spoons in the right place in the drawer.

Time to run away...

True Grit: Psynister's Ironman Challenge

This is a fantastic idea*: Take the Psynister's Ironman Challenge. The premise is to see how far you could go from a Level 1 character without the use of guilds, heirlooms, greens, steroids, plastic surgery, or a book deal: more Jake LaMotta than Lance Armstrong, if you will.

Think about it: you've leveled up almost every class. You've been through old content about a dozen times. You've nerd-raged over all the other idiots in the game because you know everything. Why not really challenge your skills? Do you have what it takes?

*And like most great ideas, I will have to back-burner it for awhile; however, it is intriguing. I'm still experiencing game roid-rage.
