Fall-back plan…(and OLRG update)

Sometimes understanding who we are as players is the first step...
There is some weather pattern in my little burg that causes an unreasonable amount of power outages: any extra kick of wind, or the formidable combination of wind and rain, and out it goes. The power flickered, went off for short spans twice, and then just as CD Rogue and crew left for events, and I settled down to get that party started, the power went out for the rest of the day into the evening. So what's a Draenei to do, all geared up and no Bastion of Twilight to go to?

Before...
Well, I still had some daylight, and there is a stand-alone pantry in the kitchen that's been nagging at me for some time. In fact, there are a lot of projects that have been nagging at me for months. I decided instead of writing by hand, or organizing (aka shuffling piles) paperwork, I'd tackle Big Green. Inside of BIG GREEN I found an array of treasures, most of which went straight to the garbage. I can be ruthless when necessary. For example, there is a pink voodoo doll I found in New Orleans, resting in a red glass flower vase from some anniversary or birthday arrangement;
Stacked in the back were four novena candles, wax covering the wicks. I said a small (superstitious) prayer before releasing them to the other phase of their existence. The San Jose candle still had a workable wick, so he helped me when darkness descended (and I couldn't find a flash light):

There is a collection of novelty cocktail napkins, for all those times I mix up pretty cocktails and pretend I am a lady of leisure. Mostly my "cocktails" are in the form of a tequila shot with CD Rogue, or a glass of wine. Not a lot of need for these, but there is no way I'm tossing hula-girl cocktail napkins.
Three rolling pins. Three. For a woman who has never made a homemade pie crust once in her life.  Seriously, who am I?!?

Ultimately, I am wondering what monster have I become that I love to play WoW so much I can't even clean out a damn cupboard or closet once in awhile? Let the bills stack up, or ignore e-mails and voice messages? And this does not just affect me, but my concentric circles of doom have affected all around me, for literally miles (yes, I used literally correctly). My poor planning, procrastination, and overall lack of motivation are my fatal flaws.

After…much, much better: found my skull cake pan, just in time for the day after Dia de los Muertos...
"día a día de los muertos"

I'm not sure who this woman is who lives in my house and has voodoo dolls next to the cocktail napkins. Oh, never mind. I know her very well.

Old Ladies Raiding Guild: since next week is the intractable (no, I am not ready) Blizzcon, our next OLRG will resume Saturday, November 16th, at its normal time, 4PM Pacific/US.

  1. Well that was creepy, my first thought was how did you get a picture of my kitchen ... oh, it's green. Whew, I thought you ported here or something. Okay, plenty of time to study. Must remember to actually do it.

  2. Love the detailing on your cupboard. My mother has a sign in her kitchen about only boring women having immaculate houses and that's one motto I decided to live by way before I had my own space to make a mess of. It is slightly annoying however when you want something but can't find it.I made the mistake of having a hunt through my old "toy" cupboard in search of a piece of fabric I suddenly felt the urge to do something with. I found one wind up skeleton, a penguin pencil sharpener, a jar full of misc buttons, several postcards ranging from the Titanic Museum in Belfast to a mountain in the Canadian Rockies and a book of Methodist hymns.... but no fabric.

At least though, you'll know where the skull cake pan is for next year!

    1. I have had this morbid fear lately that something happens to me, and my stacks of messes are left for a grieving CD Rogue and confused cubs. At least the pink voodoo doll is secured: wouldn't want anything to happen to that! And heck, why not a Nightmare Before Christmas cake? You gave me a great idea! Cakes should never wait.

I've been following your blog for quite a while and I find myself constantly thinking "we are quite a bit alike". However, now that I've read the above statement I'm beginning to believe we may actually be twins separated at birth. :)

    1. Agreed: looking at your latest post, when there are Macabre Marionettes to dance with, a dirty toilet or water bill simply cannot compete. It's not even a fair competition.

  4. I hope folks are relieved to hear I have *no* plans of releasing photos of the mess inside my house!

    Or of the outside either.

    1. Yes, thank you. I have plenty of hula-girl cocktail napkins to go around.
