The Priestess and the Dragon

Sometimes a good deed is rewarded (but don't tell karma that--it'll try to balance something or other!) Zeptepi the Gentle One is at the point in the Wrathion cloak quest to destroy Nalak and stab him with a spear. For Mataoka, that was easy - there were plenty of stalwart champions on the Isle of Thunder, and for Kellda, also easy, because well, she's Kellda. She didn't solo it, but there were a few and she's just mean enough to be lucky. (Luck is afraid of warlocks, didn't you know?)
Waiting for heroes!

So now for Zeptepi - she knew she would not be able to do this alone, so she put the call out to her intrepid and patient friends: Repgrind, Tome, Breige, and Taikuutta all came to the rescue. She saw that a rogue was on the isle, and told him what was afoot, and he was very grateful, and not only came, but brought his tank and another healer friend.

Three healers, one tank, and two casters…it took a long time to bring that dragon down, but success! Now onto the slog that is LFR and obtaining the twelve Titan Runestones…and the final fight…and and and…never mind. One dragon at a time, dear Zep. One dragon at a time.

Now for some ephemera:

I knew I recently saw Taik's name somewhere! Magic for dogs!

And Cymre has a post about one of my favorite Disney princesses, and I think she has a great idea - we need more off-hand weapons, so here's my contribution:

Little saints...

The Roman Catholic church has many saints, and if I don my theologian hat I'm sure it comes from the compromise of culture from the Ancient Roman pantheon of having minor deities perform specific functions or protections. It's tough to give up beliefs, and shun a god. I still knock wood, or toss the spilled salt over the left shoulder, because you just never know. The monotheistic appeal of Judeo-Christianity is clear -- accessibility to a faith for the common man. But the good people just couldn't give up the spirits of the forest, hearth, or seas, nor should they. That is an unfair compromise.

I don't really pray. I'm not sure what I do, actually. I do something, think a thought, make a wish, hope, concentrate, meditate, something, when I feel the universe needs to be reminded that although it isn't fair, and it certainly is under no obligation to me to show its cards, that I can still hope for something -- some comfort, some laughter, something...

Over the next few weeks I plan on tackling the faiths in Azeroth. In the meantime, however, I have someone who could use your prayers, or whatever it is you do, or even just a kind thought, that something serious gets better. Some strength is given. Some light is shone in the darkness. Pray to St. Juliana for chronic illness, please, or whatever small shrine you create. I don't know if it works. I really, truly, don't. But I know thinking nothing doesn't either. Go in peace.

Some enchanted evening...

I am always a day late and a dollar short. In fact, as I type there is company who is otherwise occupied now and I am supposed to be at Costco buying dinner. Am I doing that? Nope. I'm sitting here wondering how long it will be before Zeptepi the Enchanting can reach Revered with August Celestials (we're still just friendly) and Shado-Pan so she can get her hands on the good stuff:
From Crafter's Tome
I wish someone could just give me a simple answer when I ask, "How long does it take to go from friendly to revered with the Tootsie Pop Faction?" How many licks indeed? But alas, no one can. And this is where the mightiest and best spell of all comes in: the spell of cooperation. This is when you need to have a good friend, guildmate, or significant game other who is willing to divvy up the chores  for the good stuff--you take one end of town, they'll take the other, and you'll meet somewhere in the Vale with enchants and materials.

Bear made a very convincing case for grinding reputation: hey, without mills to grind wheat, we wouldn't get bread now would we? So, when it's time to make the doughnuts, or enchants, at least I know at some point there will be an end, and a product, and I can move on. At least till the next big patch.

No matter - even if the world may never know how many dailies does it take to get to the center of the offering coin, eventually it will happen.

1...2....3!

This commercial is NOT from the 80s as it states on Youtube. Not by a long shot.

My girl...

When I am thinking about favorites, of course I love my shaman. I do. But like a first-born child or the first burnt pancake of breakfast, she's been a learning experience. (Yes, I just equated children with fried batter.) But the question I proposed was, 1) which of your characters do you always look forward to "seeing?" But the real question is why? ; and when I just feel most at ease, I must admit it's with Zeptepi.

Something Erinys wrote about this topic struck me, that some of the characters we love we feel are everything we're not. Mataoka is stormy, emotional, impulsive, and hardworking: we share these traits. My mage is, in the role playing/fanfiction world now, mourning a deep loss of Theramore and identity. I adore my warlock, Kellda, cause Kellda just doesn't give a damn -- she's my "Scarlet O'Hara" of the bunch. But Zeptepi - she is complicated where I am simple. She is classy and sweet, and doesn't apologize for her dark side: but most importantly, she is patient. This is something I have never been. Zeptepi is the soul of grace: she shines in light, speaks in shadows, and is fluent in both. She can wait for gear, she can quietly pace reputations, she keeps the tiny cottage guild in order, and does it with joy and no complaint. When I play Zep, I never feel panicky or worried. Funny, she's been kicked from a dungeon or two, kind of derped through Black Temple the other day, and doesn't always know her holy nova from her sanctuary, but she evokes patience in me I rarely feel otherwise.

Maybe intentionally, I haven't really paid much attention to her lately, but will soon. I do glance at Matticus' advice, and went over to Ask Mr Robot today and he was horrified over my lack of not capping and reforging, etc., (which will have to be completed after company leaves). But with her, somehow I know it's going to be all right. She will eventually collect her sigils so she can place the sha-touched gem in her new Jin'ya, Orb of the Waterspeaker she luckily received today (Mataoka got this yesterday, so the healing world will never be the same. If you don't feel better soon, they'll just hit you over the head with it!)

There may be another factor, too: this character has never been 'front and center' in any large guild. Yes, I know it's "me" who's behind Mataoka, but I think me as the shaman has perhaps burned some bridges (I didn't mean to! I popped my searing totem by mistake and burned the place down! Sorry!) When playing the shaman, I learn who is still feeling kind and friendly towards me, and who is less than keen on me. When I am on Zeptepi, I get to just be me, just play--no expectations, no disappointment, no lost friendships.

Maybe Mrs. Whitworth is truly looking out for her.

Tiny Story Time: Dark Angel

I am not good. I am not pure. I have a wicked heart, sometimes, and don't always want to do what's best for others, but only for myself. And yet you still love me. How is that possible? How is it so? Do you see the faults in all of us, and have the patience of a saint, the flaws of a human, and the desires of a spirit? How is it so? How can this be? I will thank you for what seem like little gifts: the fish, the spells, the antidotes to tired worlds, and just for a little while, just for a moment, you take me away from it. I am not good. I am not pure. But you make my wicked heart and help me walk in grace.

Love to all of you in this season of light, hope, and triumph over darkness.

Souptepi.

I --am a terrible Shadow Priest.

Or rather, with these 'alts-who-have-become-as-beloved-as-mains,' Blizzard has not taken into account players like me. Cause it's all about me, right? I swear I think Big Bear reads my mind sometimes, cause his post about our beautiful alts being reduced to farm labor was sadly hysterical. "Hey, there, Knight Paladin, be careful you don't get cow flop on those shiny sabatons!"

Today, I wanted to play. I wanted to play with Zeptepi, the Priest. Zep is not a bad Holy Priest, but has been struggling with mana changes, so leveling by dungeon is not an option, nor is it expeditious. So, little quest here, little one there. Today she went to where the big, bad yaks are.

But as you see below, and for those of you who know your Bugs Bunny lore, Cookie McYaungol has other plans for her. Below is a screenshot of her bones in the soup. Literally. She had just died there not moments before.

"She" died thirteen times this afternoon. But then again, for those you may accuse me of hyperbole, I lost count.

Big gangs of yak men would aggro like she was made of a bale of hay and winning lottery tickets, and munch her face. Heal, psychic scream, dot, dot, boom, heal, dead. All damn day.

Believe me, this is no crying over spilled soup. So, I have to take it a bit slower with this tissue-thin cloth wearer. All she's got to work with are shadows and screams--scary, but just not good enough. One or two at a time is very doable, but more than that is death on a stick. She is level 88.66%.

Am I any better at shadow priesty-ness than I was before? Doubtful. But the stew was delicious.

(the most inane post ever...just let me type it, and then move on)

I am not sure how this happens, maybe it's just my brain pattern, but I notice that odd things come in twos. For example, I was looking at Graphics Fairy and this Death's-head Hawkeye moth popped up. That very night, I believe, Zeptepi obtained this funky cloak from Naxx with this insignia:

Then, today my mom told a funny story about a chubby lady my great-grandmother knew who was married to a man named Ollie, and then as we're driving home I looked up at a street sign and the name of the street was "Ollie." And then while watching TV, Twister Sister was mentioned and I swear I was just talking about old 80s videos the other day and brought them up as an example.

Okay, the Ollie story is funny: Imagine a very buxom woman putting on an old-fashioned girdle, and one breast was in and one was out, and she could not maneuver her way into its proper position, so she calls in her husband, named Ollie, who was of no use with girdle-breast placement (this happened long before the invention of Spanx) and said he'd just have to get the scissors and cut it off. She replied, "I don't think so, you'll just have to cut off my boob, because this cost $25!"*

I'm not sure how this predicament got resolved, but I'm sure my great-grandmother's Bridge club was left in stitches at its telling. But I thought, "It's not my story, is it?" Ollie and his good lady wife are long passed, and I don't know any other details than that. But what I am thinking now as summer draws to a close, is how much I can't stop writing. I write in my head, I write notes, I send myself texts and tweets. I feel this urgency to collect these stories, which is why I put out a redundant BlogAzeroth idea. No matter. Good stories are worth repeating, even if it requires threat of shears.

Blessings!

Still on Pacific time, I was up goofing around and saw one of my best buddies was in Serpentshrine...Serpentshrine! They LOVE me there! I have been wanting to get the Avatar hood for Zep since mog first came out, so I asked (rudely, as in, "invite me now and summon please!") and off I went. There were no other heroes on my token, so anything priestly that dropped would not have to be shared. I know it's old mog news by now, but I think she looks amazing:

But...back it up a bit. So, yes, great and beautiful helm, full of stars and mystery, but earlier in the night many guildmates were finishing up their Cata hero things. I optimistically said I hoped I could 'rally the troops' and do them when I come home. I was told what I already knew, that with the patch coming out it would be tough to rally those troops again. Tell me something I don't know. But--not one to be discouraged for too long--I did ask, on the side, if I a girl could get a little help when I return, and just the positive response from this player was all I needed to hear. Did you ever think of that? Sometimes it's not that we get something done, it's that we know someone will be there for us in spirit? Cool, huh? I felt this huge sense of relief. And when Navi says she's in the same boat for some things, it's not that misery loves company, it's more like achievement seekers feel comforted in knowing there are kindred spirits out there.

I really do know some amazing folks who live part-time in Azeroth.

In trying to figure out which character is going to get their promotions, of course it's shaman, and then I can't leave paladin, priest, and mage behind. The trio of shaman/paladin/priest has been like three parts of myself, and it won't be a chore to get them moving forward. Their stories are not over yet, not by half.

Need a hand? or Sisterhood of the Magical Elf Pants

Hardy-har-har!
Get it? A hand?! Isn't that a cool off-hand weapon? Off-hand! Oh I just got that!

Another stuffed-up day in Matty's REAL LIFE WORLD EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

/sigh

No, really - it was full of some Machiavellian-level maneuverings and the Spider whispers. I could go on, but man is this story old. But I had to ask a very dear colleague to talk me down from that tree yesterday, and in emails and a phone call or two, she did, lots of all-caps, DON'T QUIT kind of stuff. I know from my new boss's perspective she solved the issue, and I tried one last attempt this morning to state my case, but am pretty sure it won't do me any good (though for the record it's not for 'my' good, but the good of what larger-picture kind of thing, but lately, no one considers the human factor anymore, it's all part of the machine. Machine must be fed.)

Okay - anyway. There is hope. There is always hope.

My new guild did indeed bench me for a player who came back from vacation, but asked if I could be there on Sundays to begin to work with and gel with the second ten-man team. Sure. I only asked that the RL let me know that I wasn't going, because I was waiting for 40 minutes on stand-by seeing if I was going to raid last night. He said he would, and then I noticed everyone was there, and he hadn't confirmed.

/sigh

Asked him if this other player was there and he was so I said thanks, and then logged off for Zep. This parallels to my new boss not knowing my name, my seniority, or my expertise fully, and is quite discouraging. I have to be the understanding one.

Got pants?
So, onward. Ever onward. Tried to do a dungeon but it was dumb. Then, saw that BH was opening up, so what the heck? Took awhile to scramble the players, and we wiped once (it was silly, but no biggie) and then went once more. Flawless. Hey, look at that! Cloth 397 pants! One person rolled - 2: me: 20-something. Another: 60s. Damn. Big frowny-face poop.

And then one player said to the one who won them - "Hey, you rolled twice, not cool!"

Long story short, they grabbed me back with whispers, the player who rolled twice apologized, and gave me the PANTS!!! But the funny part was I was on the phone with my friend while she was talking me down from said tree, alternately crying, raging, and mumbling, and then when the whole pants thing happened, I told her, (she knows and understands my Azerothian avocation), and we laughed our heads off. Too damn funny! I explained how only one poor elf had to die, but these were magical elf pants! She suggested I make a miniature pair of these magical elf pants and put them as a ward or totem of sorts in my new (old) space -what a great idea! Our new motto is going to be "I Have Elf Pants."

Believe me, she and I are at the point of not being ashamed of putting magical supernatural aid tokens around our work environment.

This image is here because I just like Dawnbeard's style.  That is all.
See? There are stories of players being cool and polite--good karma all 'round!!

But the other cool thing was a buddy as me to run on Zep in Naxxramas and I got that crazy hand off-hand thing. Nothing like a "handbag" to keep my stuff in! Get it?! Okay, I'll hand over the puns now.

Finally, third and magical charm: Lots of /hugs from player friends, and could sleep in peace.

And I got pants.

Tiny Story Time: The Leaving

Just one more time.

Just one more time.

The choices sat down on her lap and looked up expectantly, waiting for her to see them, acknowledge them, and send them to their tasks.

They smelled of dust and neglect; pungent, pissy choices.

Her vows no longer pulled her to her future, but bound her to her past.

If she saw him one more time…

Zep did not live far from the outpost where Scout Knowles stood watch. He was only a few leagues away from Dalaran, the nearly forgotten city in the sky, where only a squirrel or friendly Orc or two remained. Her vows grew in the cathedral was in Stormwind, the human world, where like her sister, she never seemed to quite fit. Why Exodar didn’t have holy training in the ways of the light of her people, another option instead of priesthood, she would forever question. There had to be another path besides this constrictive human one.

One more time. She told Mrs. Whitworth to stay behind, please. The cat grumbled, but obliged.

She turned into a shadow, to remain unseen by his vigilant eyes. What would be worse? To have him see her, or not? To have him see her and want her, to move, to abandon duty, or to not recognize her? Or the worse terror of all: to see her, and choose to stay. To remain outside of his watch, the pots and fumes of a war keeping his interest were old wars and past battles. He guarded the post like a holy relic. She was just a girl, after all.

Why the hell was he still guarding this small incursion? There were new battles, more important ones. Her sister had commented a strange, conspiratorial thought the other day: Stormwind had been destroyed, yes, but it seemed all too selective. None of the commerce areas were affected, such as the banks and the auction houses—odd. Only the seared talon marks on the gates of the city, and a few fallen monuments. Did the dragon have a pre-arranged deal with the powers that be? To only kill, enslave, and knock down a few bricks, but leave the money seats alone? In musical chairs of war, the gold always knows when the music is about to stop. And yet, here was her love, still alone on the watch. Seemed like misplaced allegiances to her.

Zep hid behind a tree; Knowle’s mare shifted her weight just enough to block her view of him. That damn jealous horse. To outsmart the beast, she perched on the exposed beam of the storage shack, hidden from view. A rogue flew in, and spotted her, but did not give her away, flying away after his task was completed.

Knowles seemed agitated. Zep sucked in her small breath.

She
went
inside
and

He held the back of her head, his hand covering her skull, and kissed her.

And he kissed kissed kissed her.

Stop.

Remember.

Lips like tiny embraces on your face, holding you as close as they can, closer than love, a step over the bridge, a step into the fire, a step into the sea, once kissed, once and once again, you are marked. You drown, you surrender, you are gone, bubbles in the water and the salt in the sea, burning infernos and extinguished sparks all at once.

Knowles shifted his weight, and looked down at the ground, his eyes away from the horizon.

A storm giant boomed past, the grounding thunder steps in time with her heartbeat.
The scout watched the giant trod past, seeing him thousands of times, the behemoth was old news now, but still captured his attention.

She came down from her roost, and hid.

The priest slumped in the corner of the long-neglected shed, next to crates of dangerous ammunitions, dangerous in their potential, ignorant of treaties, and squelched explosions.

The aggressive cobwebs roped high wires from one podium to another, the only entertainment the musty shack hosted.

She prayed. “Velen, please – give me the power to move. To go. And the power to not return again.”

Zep felt the dusty place inside, the place where the moment shushed and boxed. If she reached out and touched him, it would only confuse him, break him even. He was only mortal after all.

The splinters, the crack of pine, and a sound of bagpipes off somewhere: this was a human place, of simple duties and singular purpose.

A sparrow raced to its nest.

She dissolved, amethyst, indigo, and gold.

And Scout Knowles kept the line.

The face...and remembrance

Warning: There may be spoilers, but there will definitely be beauty.

The other night watching Game of Thrones (my reading in the novels coinciding just a few paces ahead of the TV show), I realized that Rob Stark's love interest was not the same as in the novels (or is it?) Critical plot points, characterizations, blah blah blah aside, what I noticed was how much the actress reminds me of who I imagine Zep to be:

The actress, Oona Chaplin, comes from acting royalty, and her presence on screen is luminous. And though character design is vastly contrasting: Zep is all light, white, and golden, while Talisa is dark, lithe and more Night Elf than Draenei. But to me, this is Zep: sweet, healing, through the blood and muck, and her graciousness shines through.

This is when I should just shut up and write: I have the luxury of a long weekend, thank you to the brave soliders, male, females, husbands, mothers, brothers, and sisters--no matter what anyone says about the US policies, and I have plenty to say myself, I will never disparage the men and women who serve. You are my real heroes, and you have my undying gratitude.

Potion of Illusion Files: Movie Magic

Something is in the air, because in keeping with the hocus-pocus theme I seem to be conjuring lately, Zep downed some POI and changed into this:

"Bill, strange things are afoot at the Circle K..."

Is this a Worgen transformation I'm sensing? A trick of fuzzy meaning and duplicity? In any case, I am entranced. Modifying this to riding togs, complete with a lady's English side-saddle and hoop skirt would be amazing. Would that only the Worgen mounts were more interesting...

Coincidentally, I had been thinking of re-watching several "magician" themed movies:

The Prestige, if you like your tricks all Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman-y

or

The Illusionist, if you prefer a charming slice of Ed Norton and Jessica Biel.

Distraction.

So much for going into LFR today.

Turns out I know random people randomly who do random things. First, off to help Jaina out and got my Lucky Old Sun mace for Zep. Fifth tries the charm, so they say!

Then, thought, hey! I've been wanting those Wings of the Avatar, rounded up some willing victims volunteers, and got them!

Couldn't talk anyone into the Hood, but maybe some other afternoon, so I can get my white album set. In the meantime, put this outfit together with Greco/Roman influences moving with a hint of Pagan and New World Order thrown in for good measure.

Now, there were a few other things to do, too: Oh yes. Wanted to talk about time. One fact of my world is I cannot or should not stay up too late. I must wake up very early (and I didn't even marry the dairy farmer, and have no cows to milk). Most folks I know who raid regularly are night owls, and those that have to bow out of regular raiding usually come to the hard reality that they're not in college anymore and can burn lots of candles at both ends, and do shots in the meantime. I keep reminding myself of this whenever I start to steer toward the Cliffs of Insanity and think about trying to raid (still? again? not sure--wasn't much good at it the first go-round). Then, the circular thinking goes back to: then why am I keeping up on good gear, valor points, and all for three demanding WoW characters? There can only be one princess at the ball, only one can go and be prom queen, only one highlander, right? I don't know.

The abritary structure of a day, or at least some ground rules I plan on setting for myself, do not include raiding. Nothing demanding on Sunday nights, nothing past 9PM on weekdays, and devote a few hours for just writing/other creative pursuits on the weekends. The funny friend who helped me get these wings today and I were talking about the trials/tribulations of big versus little guilds, because the little guilds get no love from Blizz. Like a small business owner being overrun by the big corporations, and it is a complaint of mine. I understand the rationale for the big guilds getting their grand perks, but seriously, all I want is to be able to summon and mass rez. Both of those help the social fabric of the game be more enjoyable for all. And, now I am going to sound grumpy, but even in my nice new guild, the nerd dialogue gets a bit weary. I swear the sense of deja vü in my new big guild versus my old big guild is disorienting. At this point in my thesis, I am going to summon my awesome powers of self-editing and shut up, and not write about all of the stereotypes or generalities of the flirtatious player, the nerd-rager, the smug officer, over-enthusiastic newcomer or disinterested, or jaded, B-team wannabes (me?).

Point being: I like my little guild with my buddy. He's funny, doesn't talk too much, and we respect each other's time. He's the friend that I would probably go down to the 7-11 and buy Slurpees and play hacky-sack with all day, back in my "I can buy Slurpees and Play Hacky-Sack All Day" days.

Man, doesn't that sound good right about now? Cherry Coke Slurpee and a hot summer's day?

Talk about living the dream.

Ground-down Hog Day

Rule No. 1: Don't Piss Off the Healer
Because you never know if this is what is lurking underneath:

I had one of "those days" yesterday. It usually doesn't stem from one day, but many days in succession of poopiness. Sometimes, I hate to admit this, I will visit Azeroth in anger. Just like Bill Murray in 'Groundhog Day,' "Don't drive angry!"

To censure myself, keep myself in check, I foolishly went in to a dungeon as a healer. It was the one, you know, with the thing, and that other thing, and the purple poop, and the thing. Lady Sylvannas was up to her usual tricks, and even she seemed like she was phoning it in.

And, I should have known better. My Add-Ons were acting up, which I guess tends to happen after big patches. (This is a post for another day, Scarlet.) All I had to work with was Healbot, but meh, no big deal. Death Knight stepped in purple poop, died, but got back on his feet. Things were fine, and I was just about to give everyone a bath in my magical shining light of love sauce, when hunter says to me:

"hey retard why dont u dispel"

And then my fingers did the walking, and instead of hitting "you're all better now" I hit the "find the exit" button.

Hope they all wiped.

Now, I know, because we've all been there, the litany of insults that came after and their justification in what a horrible healer I was/am rolled down the screen like screen credits on a James Cameron film. Oh well.

It has become clear to me that more than anything, it's the players' level of expectations of perfection are crap. I'm tired of reading comments about bad players, bad bad bad. In other words, it's not the bad players, it's how other players handle them.

Humans = make mistakes
Humans = live together
Humans = live together better when mistakes are forgiven (not necessarily forgotten, but that's a woman thing- we try to learn from history, and have everyone else learn, too.)

Should I have known to dispel sooner than I did? Perhaps, yes. One man's dispel is another man's choice to renew. There is not a lot of time in that fight to kill the ghoul and get to the safe side of the River of the Lava Game. If it touches you, you die. But like the lava game, it is a game.

I am not sure why this individual doesn't have manners. I am not sure why he couldn't have said, "you need to dispel" or " dispel please," or hell, I would have taken "dispel." It's the "retard" part, that he took the time to type those letters to go out of his way to be a pendejo.

Yesterday morning, as part of my long day, I'm driving to work in the dark, rain, (it's advanced darkness and advanced rain around here), and at a certain harrowing intersection, I decided to not die and turn left in front of oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, my front end was in the crosswalk, because the light turned red after an onslaught of cars. A woman walking over to the trains, presumably on her morning commute, made a point to give me a tyrade of insults because she couldn't use the crosswalk. I wish I could tell her, "Lady, I didn't mean to ruin your day by my not dying."

Sigh.

Groundhog Day. Little f***er better see his damn shadow, all I'm saying. Or I will run him down.

Diamond in the rough...

"I feel, well, a bit useless right now," Zeptepi thought as she inspected the guild bank vault again, feeling burdened that she didn't want to organize or clean anything in there. Her guild-mate by all rights should be guild master, but he just indulged her fantasies of royalty. She moved a few things here and there, put some trash, rather "treasure," on the Auction House, hoping someone would spend a few silver on her wares. In her little guild of two, the better half was off fighting in some battle or other, as usual, but he was not in his mage form, so he was previously engaged. She didn't want to pull him out of the battle and have him port her, that would just be height of bossiness. But, the alternative: to fly everywhere to find all the elders seemed, oh and she felt so guilty for saying this, tedious. She knew they would give her candy (stale) and perhaps some gold (more likely coppers), and try to impart some wisdom. On a whim, instead of veering off to the flight master, she went down into the depths of Ironforge, her kitty-cat, Susuwatari, following closely, yet paradoxically remaining independent. Zep marveled at that. "How do cats so easily seem to love and spurn you at the same time?" she wondered. Down in the depths she went, until she came to a group of regal-looking and stately Dwarfs. In the center stood a frozen figurative sculpture, which Susu immediately leaped upon, perching to either dominant the room, or hold court, Zep wasn't sure what the cat hoped to accomplish by her ill manners. (As long as the feline didn't confuse the diamond dust chips for a litter box, no diplomatic breakdown would occur.)

She noticed that one Dwarf seemed to be in charge, and she introduced herself with a sweet curtsy. He replied in kind, "Aye, lassie, I am Advisor Belgrum."

The good advisor proceeded to share with Zep some sad tale of grief and guilt, something about patience and whatnot, but all she could see was that he was wearing the robes she longed for, and by gods, looked better in it!
(Hope he doesn't get sweat stains on it...)
Zep gave her condolences, and beat a hasty exit through the geologically-created catacombs, Susu following close behind. (The cat's logic was, perhaps from that height, the dwarfs would seem like large rodents, and she could practice pouncing, but she abandoned that plan when Zep left the hall.) Zep thought it may be better to go seek out the elders than bother poor, stiff King Magni today. At least the elders were still breathing.

Writer's Note: Since I have predominately played on the Alliance side (hey, I like hooves and horns, what can I say?), I am certain there are quests and secret hide-y holes just like this one in Ironforge on the Horde side. Any favorite secret spots you'd like to share? Or, by the telling of the secret, destroy it? That is true, so never mind. Curiosity killed the Feline Familiar, you know!

Monopoly.

I was literally having this conversation with my cross-dressing rogue, while scrambling to lay in supplies before another big snow storm hits. I am not unused to snow having learned to drive in Colorado, and the east coast, but here the good government doesn't know how to budget for road salt and plows. Besides, they might run over a salmon or something,

(I kid, of course. Don't call the Salmon Police on me.)

The conversation topic spinning my mental wheels was about the three Draenei Girls Gruff: Matty, Luperci, and Zeptepi. (Their names sound like Marx Bros. names.) Now, those three are all fairly well decked out, considering only the shaman has stepped hoof in any type of raid. (I am at this limbo place where I am not seeking to raid actively either: that would involve tugging at the robes of the guild officers, saying "Let me in coach!" when all I really want to be is the water boy.) The thing is: Valor Points. All three girls need BOE items. Well, Matty doesn't. I said one quick word to Guarf the other week, because I wanted to borrow some of his "extra" ones (with reasonable term interest rates, of  course) and get some bracers or boots for Zep. Before I could give him a shopping list off he went and got them for Miss Matty. No good deed goes unpunished, eh? Like a nagging wife when the husband picks up the wrong brand of laundry soap, I was appreciative but resigned. (Sorry Guarf. Really. Really.) So, off trots Miss Matty with her boots, bracers, and such. From LFR, she got the chest piece and shoulders early on, and the ax, etc. But here's the kick in the head: got the bracers from Dragon Soul, and I'll be damned but those suckers are Best in Slot! DAMMMMIT. I have an abundance of bracers now. Perhaps it's a good thing since carpal tunnel is so prevalent these days.

So -- here was my dilemma: should I continue using my VP on Miss Mattycakes, (she still needs a belt, two rings, necklace, and trinket), or use my VP for Zep and Luperci first, whose gear is not quite as pretty-shiny? Kind of like having three girls go to college all at once; I just can't afford it.

Ultimately, the question is this: who is the most 'fun' to play now?'

Well, perhaps 'fun' is not the right word. None of them are particularly 'fun' right now. But I have found, with the better gear Zep is getting from the dungeons in any case, healing is, well, kind of cool. And as soon as I came home, I saw this posting by I Like Bubbles: Healing is an Addiction

I have often complimented her use of terse prose: I can't get to the point as quickly as she can.

Well, screw it. This over-thinking about this dumb game is giving me a headache. I don't know if I should put one hotel on Park Place or load up James Street with houses. The RNGs and dice will roll as they shall do as they will. I do know it's pretty easy to get Zeptepi's dance card filled up quicker than the other two, so perhaps, so she'll look pretty and smart, I'll get her the dress to the balls first.

And Guarf, about that loan...

Faithful companions.

Recently, my sweet friend and I joked about changing the name of our little cabin guild. The one we wanted was not available, (something to do with beer), but if I could, my guild name would be "Unfinished Business," because damn, not everyone can check off all the boxes of their bucket lists. He was not as amused by it as I.

Saw this image in Reddit recently: "Been Clean Three Years."

And while I hum Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab' to myself, (not quite ready to quit you yet, Matty), I am considering changing things up a bit. Not quite sure what...but perhaps that is a post for another day.

But as far as pets are concerned, this is one time-sucker I don't feel compelled to do. In their RP modes, my characters have their faithful companions, their signature pet, so to speak. The only character who will continue purposefully to collect pets (unless they just follow her home) will be Mataoka. She is on a mission to collect every amphibian and urisidae, and like I said, if other species just follow her home, she'll find a spot for them.

The amphibian love comes from the fact that many players scoff at her offers to hex things, so she's been forced to bring along her own frog or toad, and sneak a kiss or two, because a girl just never knows...

Do not underestimate the meanness of this squirrel - he's packing nuts and not afraid to use them.

Hyjal Bear Cub-awww!

Tree Frog, kind of shy

Baby elephant Matty would like to rescue...

Dun Morogh cub Matty got for only 400g--worth twice the price (and yes, too lazy to do the quest)

Luperci and her Worg pup...

Ceniza and her Murkablo, named Antiguo Amor.

Antiguo shows off his mad fire skills....
Zep rides alongside her feline familiar...one of the coolest pets in Azeroth.

So, each of my characters has a pet that is theirs. No need to 'collect 'em all' for those girls.
